St. Gabriel's Catholic School

The Journey Ahead

"And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

Dear St. Gabriel’s Catholic School Community,

After all our planning this summer, we have had a tremendously successful entry into school this year!  As a community, we have truly moved Onward, Together through these uncharted waters.  Our faculty, staff, and children have adhered well to protocols in school, and our families have committed to doing so outside of school as well.  As a result, we are still here on campus learning together.  What a joy this is for all of us!

As we prepare to move into the Holiday Season, we must remain vigilant in our adherence to health and safety measures, especially as we see that local and national COVID-19 cases increasing once again.  Many of us have begun to contemplate our own travel or to excitedly anticipate the return of our college-aged family members.  Both of these events deserve thoughtful preparation in regard to continuing to protect our larger school family.

Please see the updated Holiday Travel button below for the most current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control relating to holiday travel and how to stay safe yourselves and care for our community as well.  It is essential that you communicate directly with Nurse Tracy at trobson@sgs-austin.org, your Division Head (Mrs. Glenn or Mr. Severino), and/or Mrs. Lynch with any concerns regarding potential exposure in your family during the holidays.  We will be happy to guide you through the best response to your specific situation.

Please also note in the Health Procedures section below that the CDC has updated its definition of “Close Contact”.  Understanding this definition well will assist you in deciding when to reach out to Nurse Tracy about any exposure that might occur over Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the health and safety of our entire community.  The decisions we each make outside of school can affect all of us as we live and learn together here on campus, and we are grateful for this community’s dedication to our special School.  We wish you and yours health, safety, and much joy during the upcoming holidays.

All my best,

Mrs. Colleen Lynch, Head of School
